Barking and Dagenham among the highest levels of child poverty in the UK

Barking and Dagenham have the eleventh highest level of child poverty in the whole of the UK, say child poverty organisation. According the End Child Poverty coalition, 37% of children in the Barking and Dagenham local authority were found to be living in poverty in December 2015. Figures compiled by the organisation show the shocking inequality of wealth across in the UK, and even wide variances within a single region. Quick-thinking Essex toddler saves unconscious mum’s life

An Essex toddler has saved her mum’s life by calling for help after she found her collapsed at home. Three-year-old girl Sofia Harman, from Clacton-on-Sea, dialled 999 and spoke to the call handler for 40 minutes when her mum blacked out while painting the kitchen. Mum Patricia Hannington suffers from a heart condition that caused her to fall unconscious and hit her head.
