The Britax KidiFix XP Sict is an attractive car seat, with a smart finish and quality covers. It is very easy to install, with clear instructions and warning labels. It does however take up quite a lot of room, if you have a larger car this is not a problem but in some smaller models space could be quite tight. The size is quite noticeable by the headrest as we couldn’t make it sit properly without my car headrest getting in the way, after a lot of fiddling we did manage to get it sitting correctly.
According to Which’s safety test done on the seat it scores 77% when installed with the Isofix mounts because they prevent it from tilting during the ride. It scores 74% when used with the adult seat belt alone because it is a bit less stable on the seat. In both cases side impact safety is excellent because the adjustable side impact ‘screw’ deforms to absorb the force of the crash. Front impact safety is good too; the XP-Pad adult seat belt padding holds the adult seat belt in a good position on the child.
The seat is very well padded and offers good leg support and as it is quite well raised it offers a good view out of the window! However, for older children it could become quite tight as the side wings are not adjustable, although the headrest is. The covers are very easy to remove for washing. It is probably a car seat that should be tried in your car before you buy just to check that it fits correctly.
