Broomfield Hospital NHS are inviting local parents to attend their Baby Box launch event on Friday 5 May 2017.
The Baby Box scheme will gift all new babies with a safe sleeping box and babycare essentials.
What is the Mid Essex Baby Box scheme?
Taken from the 80-year-old Finnish tradition, the boxes are designed to provide a safe and secure sleeping environment for newborn babies. Studies suggest that this scheme has helped Finland achieve one of the lowest infant mortality rates in the world.
Each Baby Box comes with a firm mattress and a fitted sheet. The boxes also contain a number of free babycare gifts, such as nappies and a baby grow, to help parents look after their newborn.
Additionally, information provided with the box allows parents to access the Baby Box University. Mums and dads can watch a series of online video tutorials about topics such as breastfeeding, mums’ mental health, baby first aid and lots more.
How do I take part?
Broomfield Hospital will be hosting the Mid Essex Baby Box launch event on Friday 5 May between 10.00am and 12.00pm in its Medical Academic Unit.
New and expectant parents will be able to claim their FREE baby box on the day. If you can’t make it to the event, the boxes will be available via your usual midwife appointments.
Please note that all guests must RSVP – simply email firstname.lastname@example.org to book your place.
Last October, Colchester General became the first hospital in East Anglia to adopt the pioneering Baby Box scheme.
London’s Queen Charlotte & Chelsea Hospital was the first NHS facility to take up the Baby Box Initiative in the UK. Following the success of the trial, the scheme is now being rolled out across the rest of the country.
