Open Farm Sunday will be taking place on 11th June 2017. This is your chance to visit a farm in Essex and the surrounding area, and get a real insight into the world of farming.

Find out about where our food comes from and how farming effects our environment. Join tractor rides, fun activities and food tasting sessions for a fun FREE family day out.

Book on to one of our guided farm tours which include a short farm walk, an opportunity to meet our calves and visit the milking parlour to see our cows being milked. You will also be able to see the dairy where we pasteurise and bottle our milk as well as make our farmhouse cheese and cream. We will be giving out free samples to taste on the day – an opportunity not to miss! After the guided tour you can enter our competition to name one of the calves, make and colour a cow to take home, see the farm machinery display and have your cheese tasting.  Light refreshments will be available to buy and the dairy shop will be open as usual.

Please visit us for Open Farm Sunday! Farmer Katie will be pleased to meet you and show you her animals – the pigs, goats, sheep, chickens & ducks. We are a working smallholding producing free range eggs, pork and lamb and invite children aged 5-12 years onto the farm for hands-on drop off educational sessions. The open day however is for all ages, we will be collecting money for the British Hen Welfare Trust to raise money for the charity who helped us rescue our four ex-caged hens.

The Salvation Army Hadleigh Farm Rare Breeds Centre, Hadleigh

This year’s Open Farm Sunday Event will be charged at our normal entry price, and the day will include a colouring competition, displays about the history of the site and displays of farming hand-tools. There will also be a farming discovery trail hidden within our willow maze. Come along and meet the team of staff and volunteers that we have here at Hadleigh Farm Rare Breeds Centre. You will also get the chance to meet some of our small animals and feed our sheep and goats. Food on the day is available in our on-site Tearooms.
