Essex residents are in for a treat this April as dozens of attractions across the county hand out free tickets. The Essex Big Weekend will give thousands of locals the opportunity to discover some of the region’s tops venues and hidden gems.

How do you apply for Essex Big Weekend tickets?

Amazingly, the only catch to applying for tickets is that you must be over 18 years old and live in Essex.

All you need to do is browse through the various deals on the Essex Big Weekend website and choose which tickets you would like. There are 48 attractions and eateries on offer. Deals range from tickets to Colchester Zoo or Barleylands Farm Park, to beach hut hire at Maldon Promenade or fishing at Waldegraves Holiday Park.

Other attractions that are great for families with younger children include:

– 360 Play Basildon

– Hedingham Castle

– Audley End Miniature Railway

– Rye-Assic Adventure Park

– Old MacDonald’s Farm & Fun Park

– Colne Valley Railway

You’ll need to create an account to apply, but then you are free enter the ballot for as many attractions as you wish. Just make sure you read the entry details for each attraction as some offer tickets for just one individual, while others have family tickets up for grabs.

When does the ballot close?

The application for tickets closes on Friday 17th March, so make sure you pick out your favourite attractions by then.

If your application is successful – woohoo! – the Essex Big Weekend team will get in touch with you around 20th March 2017.

All of tickets will need to be used on either Sat 1 April or Sun 2 April. Rollerworld & Quasar in Colchester are also offering tickets for Friday 31 March.
