As Disney release the first images from their new seven minute short sequel Frozen Fever, it isn’t only our screens that are keeping us firmly in the Kingdom of Arendelle.
Finding by eBay UK’s ‘Toy Tracker’ have revealed that merchandise of Disney’s Frozen is outselling goods from all other children’s favourites, with seven items flying off shelves every second – that’s 12,623 every day!
However, the findings from the online marketplace have also shown that ‘classic’ story characters are continuing to resonate with families, even 70 years on. Thomas the Tank Engine, who first appeared in 1946, is still shifting almost 700 items every day, while Dr Who (1963) and Scooby Doo (1969) sell a piece of merchandise every hour.
Top Ten Toys Sales (July 2014-Jan 2015):

- Dr. Who
- Fireman Sam
- In the Night Garden
- The Simpsons
- Scooby Doo
eBay Spokesperson, Laura Wilkinson-Rea says, “Frozen has really captured the imaginations of an entire generation of children, and is a true phenomenon. However, it will be interesting to see if people are buying or selling Anna and Elsa dolls in ten, or even 50 years-time.”
