Essex Baby Review

Parents and children of all ages are familiar with the lovable Paddington bear series, but how does the live-action big screen version compare with the TV show? Our reviewer gives their opinion on Paddington the Movie.

A young Peruvian bear with a passion for all things British travels to London in search of a home. Finding himself lost and alone at Paddington Station, he begins to realize that city life is not all he had imagined – until he meets the kindly Brown family, who read the label around his neck (‘Please look after this bear. Thank you’) and offer him a temporary haven. It looks as though his luck has changed until this rarest of bears catches the eye of a museum taxidermist

Reviewer’s Opinion

When the DVD arrived I couldn’t wait to sit down with our children to watch it. The film follows all the element of the children’s TV programme, including the iconic blue duffel coat and marmalade sandwiches. The film has an amazing cast, with Nicole Kidman playing the baddie, Hugh Bonneville as Mr Brown and the fabulous Julie Walters as Mrs Bird. The film was amazing and kept us all entertained and made us laugh lots.

Essex Baby Rating

There is a moment in the film where Paddington was in difficulty and my three year old asked for a cuddle, but overall I would say this is a fabulous film for all the family. As fun and enjoyable nostalgic trip, Essex Baby rates this movie 4 out of 5.
