The first thing that struck me about the Photo on Wood by Albelli is how different this product is from other photo products I have seen. The image is printed on white-washed natural or planed pinewood (I think planed is better for portraits) and the result is both beautiful and charmingly rustic.
I found ordering from Albelli to be very straightforward. You simply select a photo, choose a print size and shape (square, landscape, or portrait), and whether you would like vertical or horizontal wood slats. From here you can quickly and easily zoom in or out, adjust the positioning of the photo on the wood, flip or rotate the image and, if you wish, apply a sepia or monochrome filter.
At first I was a little concerned that my photo quality might not be good enough to be enlarged onto the wood, but Albelli have included a special smiley face visual icon which immediately tells you whether your image is the right quality for the print size.
When my order arrived around a week later I found it to be very well packaged and it was in perfect condition. The colours on the image were clear and not at all blurry. The knots in the wood were visible, but it appears as though the planks were arranged and cut so as the natural features of the wood would not interfere with essential parts of the image.
The Photo on Wood comes with a free hanging system that means it’s ready to go straight on the wall. The only problem I had was choosing the best place to put it so that all my visitors could see it!
This product has been a bit hit with my family and friends. They all say that they’ve never seen anything like it before and love how it looks in my home. I definitely recommend Photo on Wood to Essex Baby readers!
