A company which sold controversial breastmilk ice cream in a Covent Garden restaurant in 2011 has now re-launched its product.
To mark the arrival of the new Royal baby, London-based ice cream makers The Licktators have created ‘Royal Baby Gaga’ – a mixture of Madagascan Vanilla and donated breastmilk that adheres to hospital-standard conditions.
Leeds mum Victoria Hiley, a breastfeeding campaigner who teamed up with ice cream maker Matt O’Connor to develop the product said: “There was huge support from breastfeeding women for Baby Gaga ice cream in 2011, yet some politicians still stigmatise women for breastfeeding in public.
“We thought the birth of a Royal baby was a great time to whip up support for mums and say that when it comes to ice cream this summer, breast is best.
“After all, what else would you give your young prince or princess?” she added.
The product will be available through selected stockists and online at thelicktators.com, and profits will be donated to a breastfeeding charity.
Alternatively, mums who fancy whipping up a batch of their own can following this recipe.
