An Eastenders actress has opened a new vintage shop in Colchester town centre that promises to combine up-market cake workshops with stunning retro clothing.
Carli Norris, who plays Belinda Peacock, sister of Kat Slater, in the popular BBC soap set up Chocodolly in Sir Isaac’s Walk.
The stylish boutique offers a number of vintage items, including coats, shoes, accessories and dresses for both adults and children. Carli will also be selling her ‘chocodollies’ – homemade cakes topped with handcrafted chocolate dollies.
On the first floor of the shop, Carli has created a beautiful party parlour where she will be hosting cake decorating workshops and parties. Visitors will be able to learn everything from chocolate modelling to fondant painting – the perfect thing for taking your baking to the next level!
Carli told Emma Hobley in the Gazette: “The shop is everything I love – it will bring a taste of the Fifties with all the clothes and music.
“It’s a proper girly dream shop. It will offer the whole party package – you can get a beautiful dress, vintage wedding tiaras and shoes and then you can invite all your girlfriends to the rooms upstairs to get dressed up.
“You can get kitted out for a wedding in one shop for under £1,000 and pick some really quirky things.”
Carli has been in the vintage trade since 2013, when she opened her first shop, Kitty’s Cottage, in Thorpe-le-Soken. After 8 months, she decided to embrace her love of home-baked cakes and started a sideline as a cupcake teacher.
She adds: “I’ve always loved Sir Isaac’s Walk – it will be great to be near to Patisserie Valerie and Frippery, which is one of my favourite shops.
“Colchester is a beautiful little town, steeped in history and it does have a massive vintage theme – I just wish there was slightly better parking and not so many one-way systems.”
