We’re so excited, and we just can’t hide it! Last month Essex Baby was been nominated for a fantastic new award that celebrates the digital work of businesses, charities and other organisations.

The inaugural, public-voted Digital Awards Champions is open only to gold winners from the Digital Awards events held last year in Essex, Cambridgeshire, Hertfordshire, Kent, Milton Keynes and Surrey.

We’ll be up against five other winners in the category ‘Website: Lifestyle and Culture,’ with the result being announced in February at London’s prestigious BFI Southbank.

Beating the drum for Essex families

For founder and Essex Mum Tamsin Malone, however, a further win would mean more than just having another gong on the mantelpiece.

She comments: “We’re fighting for first place like a baby fights sleep. Every week we put in so many unpaid hours to bring expert advice and the best local information to growing families at a crucial but bewildering stage in their lives.

“Taking home a prize as Digital Awards Champions next month would be powerful recognition of what we’re trying to achieve, and it would give us even greater motivation to work harder, to be better, and to reach out to even more people in need of friendly guidance.”

Made for parents, by parents

From the very beginning, Essex Baby has strived to make itself a people-centred business that puts integrity before profits.

Tamsin says: “We’re not about starting ‘mummy wars’ and posting controversial articles that we know will trigger animosity. We stay away from publishing negative, sensationalist news stories that new and first-time parents in particular find distressing.

“We believe in sharing practical information and resources that help and encourage parents, rather than click-bait articles that make them feel inadequate.”

We’re going places!

Essex Baby is the first of thirty regional sites Tamsin and her team intend to roll out across the UK. This month also sees the official launch of new three websites: Surrey Baby, Herts Baby, and Kent Baby.

“We are really interested in hearing from potential partners and anyone who wants to help roll out this successful idea,” Tamsin adds. “I’m very happy to talk to investors or sponsors who want to grow with my business – get in touch, I’m open to all ideas.”

Essex Baby also received the Silver award in the ‘Use of Social Media for Business’ at the Essex Digital Awards last April, beating some very stiff competition.
