Cool down this summer at one of Essex’s splash parks. When temperatures start to rise, these water play areas are an ideal place for children to burn off some energy without overheating.

Essex Splash Parks

Maldon Splash Park
Promenade Park, Park Drive, Maldon, CM9 5JQ
Open April – September, various dates from 11am – 4pm or 10am – 6pm.
Maldon Splash Park is a highly popular attraction that features ground water jets, ‘umbrella’ and high spout water sprays, and coloured loops to run through. Disposable swim nappies are available in small, medium and large sizes from the kiosk (subject to availability). Sessions are 30 minutes long, allowing about 20 minutes in the water.

Cost: £2.50 per child, per 20 minute session. Gold Bands are available at £12.50 per child per day for unlimited sessions (restricted to a maximum of 200 people at any one time).

Potters Street Splash Park, Harlow
Off Southern Way, Harlow, CM17 9EJ
Open Late July to Early September, 10am – 6pm
A good sized splash park that is open only during the school summer holidays. It features water jets and sprays, as well as large loops to run through. Next to the splash park there is a playground with mixed equipment and a sports court with basketball hoops. Please note there are no toilets at the site.

Barking Splash Park
Barking Park, Longbridge Road, Barking, IG11 8TA
Open on weekends, Bank and school holidays during the summer months, dependent on weather, 10am – 6pm (last entry 5pm)
Set within Barking Park, this splash park features a number of ground water jets surrounded by a few shady spots and some seating for grown-ups. Children under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult, and adult entry without a child is not permitted. Public toilets with baby changing facilities and an accessible toilet are located next to the cafe and the visitor centre (ask staff for a key). Barking Park also have pedal boats available for anyone aged over 1 year.
