There are 100s of festivals taking place around the UK this summer. We’ve picked out some of the best family friendly festivals in Essex this June, July, August and September.

Colchester Food and Drink Festival at Castle Park

The Colchester food and Drink Festival is the region’s largest food and drink festival with over 150 stalls in one of Britain’s most beautiful town parks. A ‘Celebrity Kitchen’ demonstrates great cooking. All day music by local bands, choirs and even Salsa dancing are typical for this lovely friendly Festival.Local, national and international food and drink stalls both inside and outside.
Cost: The admission is £4.00 and children 14 and under are FREE.

Brentwood Festival 2018
Fri 13 July to Sun 15 July 2018, 10.00am – 5.00pm
Brentwood Centre, Doddinghurst Road, Brentwood, Essex CM15 9NN
Now in its 8th year, the Brentwood Festival is a 3-day family-friendly with feel-good line up. Headliners at this charity event include Squeeze, Scouting for Girls and Heather Small. The festival also includes a VIP area, overnight camping, posh loos, market stalls, funfair and children’s activities.
Cost: Children under 10 attend for FREE throughout the weekend (all youths under the age of 18 MUST be accompanied by an adult).

Essex Festival of Food and Drink at Cressing Temple Barns
Sat 14 July & Sun 15 July 2018, 10.00am – 5.00pm
Braintree, Essex, CM77 8PD
A huge celebration of food and drink with tastings galore and the opportunity to buy a large variety of food and drink to take away as well as eat on site! 2018 sees the return of Tom Kerridge, ‘First Dates’ Fred Sirieix and Chef Chris Galvin. Free Italian cooking classes for children aged 8-15 years.

Barleycorn Fayre at the Museum of Power

Folk music, talks & workshops, nature & ecology, green spirituality, country crafts. Miniature steam train OPEN for rides (extra charge applies). ‘Astaria’ model village OPEN. ‘Marshall’ the Lilleshall pumping engine will be run by compressed air and other oil / diesel engines will be running.

Brightlingsea Free Music Festival

The festival thrives on its status as a FREE event and aims to attract an audience of all ages, showcasing a mixture of new and established bands. Alongside the music acts there will be multiple stalls, bars and entertainment areas for all of the family.

Festival of Wheels in Billericay

The largest event of its kind in Essex, the Festival of Wheels gathers together the east coast’s rarest and most glamorous cars, bikes and trucks. In the kids’ area there will be a bouncy castle village supplied by Mega Inflatables, children and adults can enjoy a taste of what it’s like to pilot a monster truck in the pocket-sized replicas which can be driven around a designated course, fun fair rides that all of the family can enjoy, face painting, kids entertainers, racing car simulator (event, rides, inflatable, etc., will have an additional cost).

Harlow Linkfest

Linkfest is a FREE family music festival event held in Harlow Town Park. There will be hours of live music with original performances and tribute bands. Great atmosphere with stalls, food, bar, children’s rides and other entertainment.

Woodfest at Hatfield Forest

Held in the heart of Hatfield Forest, Woodfest offers a FREE intimate festival weekend that keeps nature at its centre. Suitable for all ages, the festival mixes music acts from folk to metal, with woodland produce, crafts, stalls, demonstrations and children’s activities. Having access to such the beautiful woodland and lake is a huge bonus for kids who just want to be up and active. Camping/Glamping is available, but pitches are selling fast so book soon.
