Get ready for a new wave of celebrity baby gossip as Kim Kardashian and Kanye West welcome their second child into the world. The little boy was born naturally more than two weeks early on Saturday. A representative has said that both mother and baby are “doing well”.
The famous couple opted for the birth to take place at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, where a stay in the luxury maternity suite costs up to $4,000 a night.
A far cry from the average hospital birthing room, Cedars-Sinai deluxe suites include a flat screen TV, a refrigerator stocked with drinks, a free dressing gown, three meals per day for both parents, and the use of a doula.
For an additional fee, mothers can receive spa-style treatments while they wait for their baby’s arrival, including manicures, pedicures, and a haircut.
Kim Kardashian’s pregnancy hasn’t been an easy one for her in the last few weeks. As she reached 37 weeks at the end of November, she tweeted that she was suffering from a sinus infection and the flu.
Last week it was revealed that the reality star’s baby was breech and would be turned manually into the head-down position by a procedure called ECV (External Cephalic Version, or a Version).
Writing on her website, Kim said: “They gave me an IV with medication to relax my uterus, and then three doctors attempted to work together to turn the baby.
“There was a risk that my water might break or the baby’s heart rate could drop—in which case, an emergency C-section would then take place. I went in with my sisters and my husband. I was prepared for it all!
While Kim wasn’t due to give birth until nearer to Christmas, it was thought the procedure to turn her baby might send her into early labour – and that appears to be exactly what has happened.
