Here is the third in a series of family friendly recipes, brought to you in association with Menu4mums.


  • 3-4 pork steaks
  • 2 tbsp plain flour
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 10 tbsp breadcrumbs
  • 50g butter
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 5-6 potatoes, peeled
  • Broccoli, in florets.


  1. Put the meat between cling film and beat it with a rolling pin until flatter.  Season, then dip in the flour, beaten egg and the breadcrumbs.
  2. Then cut the potatoes into large chunks and boil for 15-20 mins. Drain and toss in 25g of the butter.
  3. While the potatoes are cooking, fry the meat in the butter and oil gently for 5 minutes on each side until cooked and golden brown.
  4. Meanwhile, put the broccoli on to steam for 5-6 minutes.

Prep Time:  5 mins

Cooking Time:  25-30 mins  

Tip: If you have small children, you can probably divide 1 pork steak between 2 children.
