Primark has recalled its ‘novelty cat leggings’ for children, following concerns that they could pose a safety risk.

The grey leggings have cat faces on the ankles. They are potentially dangerous because the bows on the cats can detached and present a choking hazard.

The novelty cat leggings were on sale in the UK between 8 November 2016 to 22 February 2017.

In a statement on its website, Primark said: “We have found a potential issue with the security of the bow attachment within the product that may become detached and present a potential choking hazard.”

“With the safety of our customers at the forefront of our minds we are inviting you to return this item for a full refund.”

Primark is asking customers to return the leggings to any shop for a full refund.

A proof of purchase is not required.
