There are plenty of amazing skin care products on the market that do great things for your skin. I don’t know about you, but when I find a brand I love, I tend to stick to my tried and tested beauty and skin care products. That’s why I was so excited to discover that Olverum, creators of my favourite iconic bath oil, had launched two new products – the rejuvenating Olverum Body Oil, and a therapeutic ultra-light Dry Body Oil designed for use on the go.
Like many people, my skin suffers from dryness in the autumn and winter months. I was so pleased to be given the chance to review the Body Oil, especially since my usual body moisturiser had just run out. There were three key things I was looking out for when I started testing the oil:
— The effect on my skin
— Whether it offers good value for money
Olverum’s original bath oil was created in 1931 by winemaker Franz Otto Klein and his wife Edith, using high-quality, therapeutic essential oils.
The body oils have been created with similar topical and aromatherapeutic benefits in mind. The Olverum marketing states that the body oils are 30 premium essential oils, cold-pressed botanical oils, and botanical extracts, including aquatic botanical Alaria Esculenta extract to boost the synthesis of Collagen and Hyaluronic Acid to preserving your skin’s firmness and elasticity.
The Body Oil has a sophisticated scent that includes Lavender Flower Oil (to destress), Sandalwood & Frankincense Oils (to soothe) and Bergamot & Geranium Flower Oils (to reinvigorate). It also contains Raspberry Seed Oil (rich in Omegas 3, 6 and 9) which leaves skin feeling smooth and plumped.
I found the absorbency of this body oil to be exceptionally fast. It felt very natural and non-sticky, allowing me to dress just a few minutes after applying without worrying about leaving greasy marks on my clothes.
Effect on skin
I have quite sensitive and blemish-prone skin, so with all new beauty products I like to test them out on my chin area first (there are lots of oil glands in that area, so if a new product doesn’t cause me to break me out there, then it usually won’t cause problems elsewhere). I’m pleased to say that the Olverum Body Oil passed my break-out test with flying colours. In fact, I found that – despite a few initial concerns about putting oil anywhere near my face – my skin actually felt more evenly balance and less greasy than after using many of the night creams I’ve tried in the last two years.
Value for money
Retailing at a RRP of £40.00 for 100ml, the Olverum Body Oil isn’t as cheap as some of the brands that you can buy on the high street. However, a product that ticks all the right boxes is one of the best investments you can make in your skin’s future so I’m happy to pay a little more for good quality.
