A Ninja Warrior style obstacle course is due to open in Colchester this autumn.

Ultimate Ninja UK is being built at the business park on Greenstead Road and will cover 15,000 square feet. The purpose built facility will challenge a whole range of would-be ninjas, from gymnasts and professional athletes to anyone simply looking for a fun new way to exercise.

Set to open at the end of October, the venue will feature obstacles similar to those found on the popular TV series Ninja Warrior. You’ll be able to test your limits on scary-sounding equipment such as the Spider Wall, Unstable Bridge, Sea of Poles, and the Cliff Hanger.

Despite its tough image, Ultimate Ninja UK will cater for people of all fitness levels. As well as ninja fitness classes and obstacle training sessions, the space can be adapted to suit children as young as eight and will be available for children’s parties.

The obstacle course will be split into twin lanes so that it can be used by two individuals or teams at the same time. This means the venue will be able to host challenges and competition days.

The venue will also house a large gym, beauty treatment facilities, a cafe and the family-friendly SD School of Martial Arts (currently located at Eastgates, Colchester).

Ultimate Ninja UK spokesman, David Gynn, told the Gazette: “It is a completely new business and it has spanned from a very much established business in Colchester, SD School of Martial Arts.

“The school is in a building that is 3,000 to 4,000 sq ft. The new building is 15,000 q ft, so 5,000 of that will be for Ultimate Ninja UK and the school is going to have new facilities in there.

“The site itself is going to offer a whole range of sports and recreational facilities.”
