Essex Baby Review

Essex Baby has been asked to review the Vertbaudet Maternity clothes range from the French fashion catalogue, which claim to be stylish, comfortable and practical. Here are a few of the products that our Essex Baby Reviewer has put to the test.

This review consists of four items:

The 2-in-1 effect nursing T-shirt is a soft stretch jersey with a wide cowl neckline, a gathered hem on the nursing t-shirt to sculpt the figure and an additional panel hidden underneath for discreet breastfeeding.

The Maternity and Nursing Pyjamas which combine the before and after grandad-style T-shirt and the before and after pyjama pants. The t-shirt is a stretch fabric, has a long press-stud placket (easy for breastfeeding) and a rounded hem which is longer at the back. The pants have a tie belt at the waist, a wide stretch fabric waistband and a back pocket.

The Maternity Sweater has a wide feminine scoop neckline, with openwork in the shoulder area, it has a generous cut and is slightly longer at the back.

The Stretch Straight Leg Maternity Jeans, which has a wide stretch fabric band. The waistband is adjustable inside using elastic and buttons. The jeans also have embroidered back pockets, belt loops, rivets at the front, a mock fly and metal button.

Reviewer’s Opinion

I am currently 34 weeks pregnant and starting to expand at quite a rate! I was excited to try out some of the Vertbaudet maternity wear. The 2-in-1 effect nursing top is such a comfy and smart top! The top layer sits in a way that it is very flattering and can be dressed up to be quite a smart top for a night out. I have not utilised the discreet bottom layer with easy access clips for breastfeeding, but I have practised how it will undo and sit  when in use, and seems like a very practical idea. It sits quite low on my hips, which is lovely as pressure becomes quite intolerable on my stomach, plus it is a lovely flattering stretchy fabric.

The Maternity and nursing pyjamas are 95% cotton so very soft on my skin. The t-shirt is stretch fabric, so it is very comfy for me as I am getting bigger. Again, I have not being able to trial the press-stud placket down the front of the top as I have not started breastfeeding yet, but I have practised undoing the front one handed and it is very easy to do. The bottoms are also stretchy and very comfy. The wide stretch fabric waistband is a great touch as I can have it unfolded at the moment, but it also sits very nicely folded down so I can carry on wearing them after the pregnancy as well. They are not too heavy and thick either, so I’m staying cool in them at night.

The Maternity Sweater looks great, but I was a little disappointed when it arrived as it was a little shapeless. I was expecting to be able to wear it from quite early on in pregnancy to make full use of it, but I am only able to start wearing it now as it gapes at the sides. Saying that it is very comfy as it is not tight in any awkward places, plus as it sits quite loosely it is quite cool for a thick jumper. I love the look of the jumper as a winter outfit.

The Stretch Straight Leg Maternity Jeans seem to be a smart and sturdy pair of trousers. They are cut nicely, sit very nicely and have plenty length in the leg. I like that they stay up well without having to wear a belt as I find it uncomfortable to have any pressure round my stomach. The wide stretch fabric band is quite broad which is lovely on these chilly days as it means I never have any skin exposed! There are also plenty of pockets for stowing the little bits and bobs away!

Essex Baby Rating

We have rated the 2-in1 effect nursing top a whopping 5 out of 5 as it is practical, comfy, stylish and very good value for money.

The maternity and nursing pyjamas again rate a 5 out of 5 as they are comfy, cool, easy to access for feeding and again good value for money.

Not rating so highly is the maternity sweater with a 3.5 out of 5. Although it is comfy, stylish and cosy due to its lack of shape and gaping sides it isn’t very good value for money as its limited how long a period It can be worn for.

The stretch straight leg maternity jeans bring the ratings back up to a 5 out of 5 as they are very stylish, comfy, sit really well, great quality and therefore incredible value for money!
