Children’s healthcare services across west Essex have been boosted by the purchase of specialist equipment.

GP surgeries in Harlow, Uttlesford and Epping now have new monitors which will help staff to diagnose and check children with respiratory conditions such as asthma and bronchiolitis.

Dr Rob Gerlis, chairman of the West Essex Clinical Commissioning Group (WECCG), said: “The monitors are more sensitive than those currently used in general practice and will give an accurate reading even when the patient is very unwell.”

The new equipment is part of a wider plan to improve children’s healthcare in the area by enabling more families to access medical services near to where they live.
